The City of Taipei will hold its annual summer fireworks festival at Dadaocheng Wharf to commemorate Chinese “Valentine’s Day” on Saturday, August 10, 2013.

Festivities kick off at 4:30 pm with food stalls and activities.   At 6:00 pm, the music begins with performances from a Cuban band, Hip Hop DJ, and a Jazz band leading up to the main event, the fireworks!

The fireworks start at 8:30 pm and will be accompanied by the soothing sounds of Taipei Symphonic Winds band.  The fireworks finish at 8:50pm, but the music continues until 9:30pm.

This is one of the main festivals of the summer in Taipei, and it does get very crowded.  Road closures will be in effect, so use of public transportation is highly recommended.

Buses to the festival venue will run regularly between 5:00 pm and 11 pm and are available from three locations:

1) MRT Shuanglian Station (捷運雙連站)

2) Taipei Main Station (East 3 Exit) (台北火車站)

The other option is to grab a cold drink from the convenient store or tea stand and enjoy the 25 minute walk from Shuanglian Station with thousands of other people.

Don’t forget to take your camera, because the fireworks will be lighting up Taipei’s skyline for some amazing views.
